SEAVEY TOPS MIKE CURB USAC NATIONAL DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS AT MIDSEASON
By: Richie Murray – USAC Media
Speedway, Indiana (July 2, 2024)………Logan Seavey’s prowess in the three national divisions of USAC thus far in 2024 has given him a commanding lead in the Mike Curb USAC National Drivers Championship entering the month of July.
Seavey (Sutter, Calif.) is the lone driver to reside inside the top-four of all three USAC national standings: 1st in AMSOIL National Sprint Cars, 3rd in NOS Energy Drink National Midgets and 4th in Silver Crown.
Seavey’s combined total of 2365 USAC national points is 171 more than second place Daison Pursley (Locust Grove, Okla.) at the moment. Four-time Mike Curb USAC National Drivers Champion Justin Grant (Ione, Calif.) stands third, 242 points back.
The National Sprint Car title is the only piece Seavey has yet to attain on his USAC resume. If he’s able to continue on his current trajectory, he’d become the eighth member of the USAC career Triple Crown club, which has been achieved by Tony Stewart, J.J. Yeley, Pancho Carter, Jerry Coons Jr., Dave Darland, Tracy Hines and Chris Windom. Only Stewart and Yeley have won all three in a single season.
The Mike Curb USAC National Drivers Championship pays out a $10,000 reward going to the driver who accrues the most combined points throughout the USAC National season.
The Mike Curb USAC National Drivers Championship celebrates its 26th consecutive year in 2024. The honor encompasses attaining points throughout each and every point paying USAC Silver Crown, AMSOIL National Sprint Car and NOS Energy Drink National Midget series event during the 2024 campaign.
Previous champions include Dave Darland (1999 & 2015), Tracy Hines (2000-08-13-14), J.J. Yeley (2001-02-03), Jay Drake (2004), Josh Wise (2005 & 2006), Jerry Coons Jr. (2007), Cole Whitt (2009), Bryan Clauson (2010-11-12), Brady Bacon (2016), Justin Grant (2017-21-22-23), Tyler Courtney (2018 & 2019), Chris Windom (2020).
The new Mike Curb USAC National Drivers Champion will be honored at USAC’s Night of Champions in December of 2024.
