Speedway, Indiana (March 19, 2025)………Aaron Pollock, a two-time USAC National Midget winner who stunned the racing world with a pair of major victories, passed away on March 14, 2025. He was 47 years old.
Pollock, who was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, made 31 career USAC National Midget feature starts between 1999 and 2004, both of which came at Indiana’s Anderson Speedway.
In just his ninth career USAC start, Pollock’s awe-inspiring drive in his family-owned Drinan Chassis No. 64 at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway during the October 2000 Sammy Sessions Memorial netted his first USAC victory, an upset of shocking proportions considering that future NASCAR star Ryan Newman entered the race having won each of his previous four USAC Midget starts at Winchester’s high banks. After Newman took the early lead, Pollock chased down Newman with 16 laps remaining in an upset win.
One month later during the 2000 season, Pollock was named the Don Basile Rookie of the Race after finishing seventh in the Turkey Night Grand Prix at California’s Irwindale Speedway.
In the 2003 USAC Midget season opener, Pollock backed up his initial series win with another captivating victory, this time during the running of the Copper World Classic on the one-mile pavement oval. Pollock emerged as the leader with seven laps remaining, then held off the “Nine Car” duo of USAC champions J.J. Yeley and Dave Darland to score the big win.
Pollock made all 31 of his USAC Midget starts on pavement tracks and remained a series regular on the asphalt around the United States, finishing inside the top-five on four occasions and inside the top-ten 16 times.
Pollock, who cut his racing teeth in karts, also made eight career USAC Silver Crown starts between 2002-2005 for Johnny Vance’s Aristocrat Products racing team and TNT Motorsports, with his best performance coming at Indianapolis Raceway Park in July 2002 where he started ninth and finished 11th.
Pollock’s memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 20, at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Laramie, Ohio at 3-7pm Eastern.
