SPOON RIVER AND BEAR RIDGE SERVE UP SPEED2 MIDGETS THIS WEEK

SPOON RIVER AND BEAR RIDGE SERVE UP SPEED2 MIDGETS THIS WEEK

The USAC IMRA Midget Series and DMA Midget Series highlight USAC Speed2 action this week. Saturday’s races are at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. (IMRA) and Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. (DMA).

Andy Baugh of Mason City, Ill. came from the tail in the 14th spot to win Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway, in Canton, Ill., leading the final five laps of the 25-lap USAC Speed2 Deery Brothers IMRA Midget race. Adam Taylor and Dillon Morley exchanged the lead three times in the first 20 laps before Baugh got by on lap 21 to score the victory. Tyson Hart finished second ahead of Morley, Brent Burrows and Robby McQuinn. Taylor was sixth.

Stratton Briggs of Anna, Ohio led all 20 laps to win Saturday night’s USAC Speed2 Midwest Thunder Midget race at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway. Aaron Leffel was second ahead of Alex Watson, who came from the back of the pack, while Bill Dunham and Chuck Taylor rounded out the top-five. Briggs fought back pressure from Dunham in the early laps, then held off Leffel in the late stages for the win.

Seth Carlson of Brimfield, Mass. led a podium “sweep” for car owner Skip Matczak Friday night at Legion Speedway in Wentworth, N.H. in the 25-lap USAC Speed2 DMA Midget feature. Teammates Derek O’Hearn and Will Hull rounded out the top-three, followed by Joe Krawiec and Jeff Horn. Hull led the first five laps and Carlson led the rest.

Adam Lemke of Hollister, Calif. won Friday night’s 25-lap “Harvest Classic Night” USAC Speed2 Western US Midget race at Madera (Calif.) Speedway, He trailed Tom Paterson for 11 laps, then led the final 14 for the win over Paterson, Annie Breidinger, Joey Iest and Johnny Nichols.

Jesse Love IV of Menlo Park, Calif. won Saturday night’s “Harvest Classic Night” 30-lap USAC Speed2 Western US Midget race at Madera. Annie Breidinger took second ahead of Iest, Paterson and Lemke. Love led all 30 laps for the win.
