CHOWCHILLA HOSTS WESTERN SPEED2 MIDGET OPENER SUNDAY

The first of more than 100 USAC Speed2 Midget races slated in seven different series encompassing 15 states unfolds this Sunday at Chowchilla (Calif.) Speedway.

The USAC Speed2 Western US Dirt Midget Championship kicks off at the one-third mile oval in Chowchilla, northwest of Madera. Jesse Love IV was the 2016 dirt and overall series champion, racking up seven podium finishes in 10 starts, including a pair of victories.

It’s been three years since USAC has last competed at Chowchilla. Nic Faas won a West Coast/Western Classic Sprint Car feature there in 2014.

USAC Speed2 events are slated this year in the following series: Western US Dirt and Pavement, Eastern, Midwest Thunder, IMRA, Gulf Coast and DMA.

States currently hosting Speed2 races this season are Alabama, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia.
