KOSTECKI, HUNT GRAB LVMS FEATURES; SPEEDROME RAINED OUT

USAC Ford Focus racing action will occur on three fronts this week as they journey to Salt Lake City, Utah, Asheboro, N.C. and Indianapolis, Ind. Wednesday night’s race is part of a “tripleheader” at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome which features the USAC D1 Midgets, Midwest Ford Focus Midwest Focus Young Guns.

Saturday night, the Eastern Ford Focuses make their initial appearance at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, while the Western and Utah Ford Focus series will compete at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City.

Jessica Clark and Trevor Hunt continue to pace the National Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns standings respectively after races Saturday at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring. Rain forced cancellation of last Wednesday’s “tripleheader” at the Indianapolis oval.

Brodie Kostecki of Roseville, Calif. and Trevor Hunt of Liberty, Mo. were the winners in Saturday night’s USAC “doubleheader” at Las Vegas. Kostecki won the Ford Focus 20-lapper in his first-ever Ford Focus appearance! He passed Jessica Clark on lap two and led the balance of the race to beat Clark, Paul Graham, Brandon White and Jim Waters. Hunt led all 20 laps to win the Focus Young Guns feature over Kostecki and Marina Turner.

The USAC Western Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns will resume their 2011 campaign June 11 at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.
