NATIONAL FORD FOCUS TITLE UP FOR GRABS NOV. 4-6 AT LVMS

BLACKHURST, CARLSON & WILLIAMS EARN CHECKERED FLAGS

The Henry Ford Sweepstakes Trophy is the prize in USAC’s next Ford Focus outing, November 4-6 at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring. The race will conclude with the crowning of the 2010  USAC National Ford Focus Champion.

Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Ill. capped his 2010 Midwest Pavement Ford Focus championship with a 35-lap feature victory Saturday night at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Blackhurst passed Tyler Cottongim on lap 32 and led the final four laps in his Kitchen Cooked Beast to beat Cottongim, Chris Lamb, Nick Drake and Scott Hunter. Hunter locked up both the 2010 Eastern and Carolina Ford Focus titles, while Joe Liguori, who finished sixth, locked up the 2010 Midwest Ford Focus championship.

Nick Carlson of Norwalk, Calif. and Daniel Williams of Glendale, Calif. captured USAC Ford Focus feature wins Saturday night at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway on “Legends of Ascot” night. Carlson passed Andrew Mulhearn on the 14th lap and led the final seven laps to take the 20-lap Western Ford Focus race over Mulhearn, Taylor Ferns, Andrew Murray and Jet Davison. In the accompanying 20-lap Focus Young Guns feature, Williams led all the way to beat Collin Henry, Jarid Blondel, Alex Jacobsen and Casey Martinez.

Pre-entries indicate a large and diverse contingent of Ford Focuses at Las Vegas for the upcoming National Championship race.
