Speedway, Indiana (December 23, 2022)………USAC Eastern Focus Midget racing throttles into the new year with 19 total events in eight different states on the series’ 2023 schedule.

The series takes on the states of Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Indiana, Virginia, Massachusetts, Idaho and Arizona with 12 of the 19 races paying points toward the championship and seven more serving as non-points special events.

The season begins in the Sunshine State with the series’ debut at Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven, Fla. for two consecutive nights on February 10-11.  This particular pair of races is one of three “winged” races on the schedule, all of which will not be part of the points championship.  The series also makes its annual pilgrimage to Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway on July 15 for the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial.

Four additional non-points special events (without the wing) see the Eastern series head west late in the season.  Two-straight evenings at Idaho’s Meridian Speedway on September 22-23 mark the return of the series to the Pink Lady Classic.  The season then closes with back-to-back dates at Arizona’s Havasu 95 Speedway on November 10-11.

The quest for a series championship officially begins with the opening points race on April 1 at South Carolina’s Dillon Motor Speedway, the first of two stops at the track for the series in 2023.  The Dillon return date is set for June 24.

The bulk of the springtime is spent in the Tar Heel State of North Carolina throughout April and May.  Rougemont’s Orange County Speedway hosts on April 8, as does Sophia’s Caraway Speedway on April 29 and Raleigh’s Wake County Speedway on May 12.

A trip to the Midwest is on the docket for June 9 and 10 at Indiana’s Indianapolis Speedrome.  Then, a series of tracks welcome the series for their only visits of the year.  Those venues include a July 29 go at Goodyear All American Speedway in Jacksonville, N.C. as well as a September 9 contest at Virginia’s Shenandoah Speedway.

The final two rounds of the championship portion of the season bring the series to Hudson, North Carolina’s Tri-County Speedway on September 30, then once more for the season finale at Swansboro, North Carolina’s Carteret County Speedway on October 14.

Hunter Wise (Allentown, Pa.) enters the 2023 season as the reigning USAC Eastern Focus Midget driving champion.
