R.J. JOHNSON SPRINTS TO HALL OF FAME CLASSIC WIN AT SAN TAN VALLEY

San Tan Valley, Arizona (September 28, 2019)………Inheriting the lead with 21 laps in the books, R.J. Johnson (Laveen, AZ) raced to victory at Arizona Speedway’s “Hall of Fame Classic.” Driving the Bobby Martin Racing #51 Martin Auto Museum / AME Electrical Sherman, Johnson topped the $4,000 AMSOIL USAC/CRA and Sands Chevrolet USAC SouthWest Sprint Car main event over Stevie Sussex, fast qualifier Austin Williams, “The Demon” Damion Gardner, and “Thunder” Tommy Malcolm.

Johnson also posted the night’s Specialty Fasteners / Saldana Racing Products Hard Charger Award with an eighth to first place run. “The Magic Man” Mike Martin scored the Wilwood Disc Brakes “Lucky 13 Award” with a 13th place finish. Matt Lundy earned the AAA Car Buying 360 Bonus of the season with a 15th place finish.

“The Big Game Hunter” Austin Williams began the night by topping the Woodland Auto Display / Beaver Stripes Time Trials with a time of 14.903 over the 23-car roster.

The night’s 10-lap heat race victories went to rookie contender Eddie Tafoya Jr. (Extreme Mufflers / Brown & Miller Racing Solutions First Heat), Jake Swanson (Circle Track Performance / Ultra Shield Race Products / Competition Suspension Inc. Second Heat), and Dennis Gile (Saldana Racing Products / ButlerBuilt Seats Third Heat).

The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will return to action at the “24th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals presented by All Coast Construction” from November 7th to 9th at Perris Auto Speedway. The 3-day event is co-sanctioned with the AMSOIL USAC National and Sands Chevrolet SouthWest Sprint Cars.

On Saturday, October 26th, the Sands Chevrolet USAC SouthWest Sprint Cars will headline the action at Central Arizona Speedway’s “Howl-O-Ween Bash.”
