14 OVAL TRACK RACES HIGHLIGHT ONE OF USAC’S BUSIEST WEEK’S EVER!

This week brings one of the busiest weeks of USAC racing in the sanctioning body’s history, with a total of 14 oval-track events occurring in 10 different series at a dozen tracks in nine states!

All 14 races occur on just two nights, Friday and Saturday! On the national scene, the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars compete in the “River Town Showdown” on Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill. and Saturday at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo. Saturday’s race marks the first time the National Sprint cars have raced at Pevely. The only previous USAC event at Pevely was a Late Model race in 1988.

Additional Sprint car activity includes the Wingless Sprints Oklahoma on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, the East Coast Sprints on Friday in the “Red, White and Blue Autos Night” at Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Pa., the Sands Chevrolet Southwest Sprint Cars in the “Robert Horne Ford Night” on Saturday at Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley, Ariz. and the two-night “Peter Murphy Classic” for West Coast Sprint Cars Friday and Saturday at the Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.

Midget action unfolds on Friday with the Eastern series as part of the “Red, White and Blue Autos Night” doubleheader at Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Pa.

The balance of the calendar involves the Speed2 Midgets, with the Western US, Midwest Thunder, Eastern and Laquerre Sports DMA series all seeing action.

Friday finds the Western US Dirt opener at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, Calif., the “Open Wheel Madness” Midwest Thunder race at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and the Eastern race at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. On Saturday, the Midwest Thunder series continues at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway, the Eastern series travels to Orange County Speedway in Durham, N.C. for the “Paul Ring Memorial” and the Laquerre Sports DMA Midgets return to Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. for the “Dad’s 4 By Tool and Supply Night VT Foodbank Benefit.

The last time USAC had as many oval-track races in a single week was last July, but that spanned three nights.
