USAC WESTERN STATES MIDGETS’ 2024 SCHEDULE REVEALED
Speedway, Indiana (December 26, 2023)………The 43rd season of USAC Western States midget competition prepares for the 2024 season with 11 race dates at six different dirt ovals throughout the Golden State of California.
The season opens and closes in the city of Bakersfield, Calif. The slate kicks off on March 23 at Bakersfield Speedway, which has hosted 124 USAC Western States Midget events dating back to 1987.
Thereafter, the next round of the series continues down the road to the newly-named The Dirt Track at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. for the first of two shows this season on March 30 and a follow-up appointment on May 4. The series returns to Kern County on October 5 where a champion will be crowned in the season finale during the George Snider Classic, honoring the 1971 USAC Dirt Track National Champion (Silver Crown).
Merced Speedway’s fairgrounds track brings the series in on April 13 while the seaside oval of Ventura Raceway will host the series on three separate occasions on June 1, July 20 and September 14.
Two dates are allotted for Nipomo, California’s Santa Maria Raceway on June 15 and August 24. Hangtown USA’s Placerville Speedway presents a pair of USAC Western States Midget action-packed events on July 6 and September 7.
Both Placerville events will be co-sanctioned by the USAC Western States division and the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA). Four dates in all will carry the USAC Western States/BCRA co-sanction designation, including the March 30 date at Kern Raceway and on April 13 at Merced.
Brody Fuson (Bakersfield, Calif.) enters 2024 as the reigning USAC Western States Midget champion, a series which also boasts as its champions the likes of Jeff Heywood, Sleepy Tripp, Robby Flock, Billy Boat, Jay Drake, Wally Pankratz, Cory Kruseman, Ronnie Gardner and Michael Faccinto, just to name a few.
