The USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series’ is closing in on their opening night of the 2025 season on April 12 at Abbottstown, Pennsylvania’s Lincoln Speedway.
Several offseason changes have reignited the enthusiasm from past, present, and future racers looking to go wingless sprint car racing in 2025.
In an effort to reward racers on a nightly basis, USAC East Coast will be giving away one Hoosier right rear tire per night to a lucky racer. During victory lane each night, the feature winner will pull a chip with a finishing position on it and that position will be awarded a free tire.
Series officials, led by President Ed Aikin, have been hard at work this offseason obtaining various nightly contingency sponsors. At present, there are only four finishing positions that do not have an extra bonus to be handed out at the end of the night.
“We want to do everything in our power to show the racers that this series is going to support them as much as possible and help out however we can,” said Aikin. “That’s why we have worked so hard to get these contingencies. If a guy runs 15th but leaves with a new tire, his night may have gotten just a little bit better.”
With opening night this weekend, two teams took part in the open practice session at Bridgeport Speedway recently. Ed Aikin was shaking down a new car and turned in some fast laps in his always bright and colorful #7. Also making his first laps in a wingless sprint car was Buddy Schweibinz. It didn’t take this young racer long to get acclimated to his surroundings as he was very impressive. Look for Schweibinz to run some USAC East Coast races with a 360 engine under the hood when his schedule permits.
