VENTURA HOSTS FOCUSES & JUNIORS SATURDAY

AFTER 8 SECONDS, ROMANO FINALLY A WINNER AT STOCKTON

Brody Roa of Buena Park, Calif. and Kyle Edwards of Fountain Valley, Calif. lead their respective USAC racing series standings entering this Saturday night’s USAC Ford Focus races at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. The USAC Western Midgets are also in action in the USAC “tripleheader” at the 1/5-mile dirt oval. Roa leads the California Dirt Focus points, while Edwards sits atop the Junior Focus standings.

Series point leader Nik Romano of Atherton, Calif. finally found the winners circle for the first time this season after eight runner-up finishes, winning Saturday night’s 40-lap USAC California Pavement Ford Focus feature at the Stockton 99 Speedway in his Ron Sutton’s Winners Circle entry. He led the final 28 laps after passing Alex Bowman for the lead on lap 13.

Romano was also the fastest qualifier and was trailed at the checkered flag by Bowman, Cody Gerhardt, Michael J. Lewis and Garrett Peterson. Romano is now 57 points ahead of Gerhardt in the standings going into an October 24 race at Madera, Calif.
