SPENCER LOOKS TO ENHANCE CRA POINT STATUS AT PERRIS SATURDAY

SPENCER LOOKS TO ENHANCE CRA POINT STATUS AT PERRIS SATURDAY

Mike Spencer is currently fourth in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car standings, but a good performance Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway could vault him to the point lead.

Spencer, of Temecula, Calif., trails National drivers Cole Whitt, Dave Darland and Jesse Hockett, who earned their top-three rankings with good finishes in the February National/CRA season openers.

Spencer won at Perris in March, becoming the sixth different winner in the past six USAC/CRA Sprint features dating back to 2008. He is tied for fourth all-time, with seven career series wins. Damion Gardner, a National regular now, is the all-time leader with 21 wins, while Tony Jones and Cory Kruseman, both still active in the CRA series, have 18 and 13 respectively.
