USAC Ford Focus National Champion Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. opened the 2009 season with a 30-lap victory at Havasu 95 Speedway Saturday night, leading the final 19 laps to beat Michael J. Lewis, Eric Gunderson, Nick Romano and Luis Ramos III. Ramos led the first two laps, then Romano led the next nine before yielding to Bowman, who was the winningest driver in all of USAC last season. Saturday night's race kicked off both the California Pavement and Auto Trader Utah Ford Focus Series.
