BOWMAN LOCKS UP CALIFORNIA DIRT

BURBA INJURED; CLARKE TAKES VENTURA FINALE; SWANSON TOPS JUNIORS
Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. is the 2008 USAC California Dirt Ford Focus Champion after finishing second to Henry Clarke in Saturday night's 15-lap series finale at the Ventura Raceway.
Bowman finished 13 points ahead of Walt Johnson, who took fifth Saturday. Clarke, of Orange, Calif., led the final 12 laps in his Kruseman machine after passing Jet Davison on lap four. The race was halted due to an accident when Michael Burba hit the wall in turn one and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center.
Bowman finished second ahead of Davison, Gordy Edwards and Johnson. The accompanying 20-lap Junior Ford Focus race was won by Jake Swanson, who survived a back-and-forth duel with Edwards, who finished third behind Brody Roa. The Junior Ford Focus series concludes November 8 at Ventura.
Burba, of Cypress, Calif., suffered a concussion in the Ventura accident and remains at the Ventura hospital undergoing treatment.
