Terre Haute, Indiana (April 9, 2025)………The legendary Terre Haute Action Track is set to roar back to life for the 2025 season with its first race of the year this Sunday, April 13, ushering in a new era under the direction of the Wabash Valley Fair Association (WVFA).
Indiana’s only 1/2-mile dirt oval will host three USAC national events in 2025, starting Sunday, April 13 with the 21st running of the Sumar Classic 100-lap Silver Crown race. The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship invades the Terre Haute dirt on Wednesday night, May 21, for the 55th annual Tony Hulman Classic. The USAC Sprint Cars return to Terre Haute on Thursday night, July 31, for the Don Smith Classic, part of the 38th annual NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week Presented by Honest Abe Roofing.
Advance tickets for all three events can be purchased now at www.ActionTrackTix.com.
After several years of inconsistent promotion, the WVFA – known for its dedication to community and motorsports – will now take the reins in promoting and managing the historic half-mile dirt oval.
Built in 1952 and nestled on the Vigo County Fairgrounds, the Terre Haute Action Track has been a cornerstone of Indiana dirt track racing for over 70 years. Throughout its storied history, it has played host to some of the sport’s greatest legends and unforgettable moments, earning its reputation as one of the most respected venues in the country.
This season marks a turning point for the track. In recent years, multiple promoters have struggled to maintain momentum and community trust. Now, the Wabash Valley Fair Association and its Board members, a not-for-profit organization, is stepping forward to manage the track directly. Their mission? To preserve and grow the legacy of Terre Haute Action Track while continuing to bring racing excitement—and economic investment—to the region.
“We believe in this track and what it means to our community,” said Brady Meadors, WVFA President. “It’s more than a race track; it’s a piece of Terre Haute’s identity. Though the financial challenges are real, we’re committed to keeping the lights on and the engines running.”
Supporting that mission is Honest Abe Roofing, the 2025 title sponsor. A proud Indiana-based company, Honest Abe Roofing brings both credibility and community spirit to the table. Their support underscores a shared commitment to local traditions, hard work, and lasting impact.
The first race of the season promises high-speed action, family fun, and a celebration of new beginnings. Fans can expect a full slate of events, talented drivers from across the country, and a refreshed sense of purpose at the track.
