CARDEY SET FOR "FIRECRACKER 30"AT PERRIS JULY 4

CARDEY SET FOR “FIRECRACKER 30”AT PERRIS JULY 4

David Cardey leads the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint cars back to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway this Saturday for the track’s big “Firecracker 30” program, which also includes the USAC California Dirt Ford Focuses and Junior Ford Focuses.

Cardey, of Riverside, Calif., is the only driver to repeat as a feature winner this season. He won at Perris in April and in the most recent race at Petaluma, Calif. and has a 21-point lead over Blake Miller entering Saturday night’s race.

A total of 74 points are available Saturday, meaning any one of four drivers could emerge with the new series lead. Defending champion Mike Spencer is 33 back of Cardey, while Garrett Hansen is fourth in the points, 59 in arrears.

Danny Sheridan, currently sixth in the series points, is the defending winner of the “Firecracker” race.
