WESTERN SPRINTS "OFF" UNTIL JULY 25 AT SLC

HUNT FINALLY CRACKS THE WINNER’S CIRCLE AT ROSEVILLE

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. and JoJo Helberg of Rohnert Park, Calif. are in a virtual “tie” for the 2009 USAC Western Sprint Car point lead. The series is idle until July 25 when it resumes action at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Helberg captured last year’s Rocky Mountain championship.

Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. finally ended recent frustrations with a 100-lap USAC Western Sprint Car feature victory Saturday night at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. Hunt grabbed the lead from Nick Green on lap 18 in his Metal Works/Red Line Oil Beast and led the final 83 laps of the race to beat Tanner Swanson, Brian McClish, Nick Green and fast qualifier Helberg.

McClish’s third-place finish left him just two points behind Swanson and Helberg in the new Western Sprint standings.
