SPRINTS ON HIATUS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 20 "4-CROWN;" DARLAND GRABS OSKALOOSA'S "ULTIMATE CHALLENGE" $30,000

Levi Jones is the leader in the latest USAC National Sprint Car Series standings despite finishing 15th in Tuesday night's Searsboro Telephone USAC "Ultimate Challenge" at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He has a 13-point margin over Jerry Coons Jr. going into the September 20 "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. grabbed the $30,000 winner's check Tuesday night, holding off a late-race challenge from Kevin Swindell to win the Searsboro Telephone USAC "Ultimate Challenge" Sprint race at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Darland passed Swindell on lap four and led the rest of the way in his Rotondo Weirich/Karavan Trailers Maxim/Gaerte to score the victory over Swindell, Coons, Cole Whitt and Hunter Schuerenberg.

Drivers Justin Zimmerman, Damion Gardner and Chad Boat all escaped injury in separate flips during the 30-lap race.

Darland is a former "4-Crown" Sprint winner, in 1999. Robert Ballou won last year's "4-Crown Nationals" 30-lapper.
