SPRINTS HEAD FOR GAS CITY, LAWRENCEBURG & KOKOMO

RAIN, FOG CONSPIRE AGAINST ELDORA

Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. takes a 21-point lead over Levi Jones into what could be a pivotal weekend of Indiana activity in the battle for supremacy in the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series.

The series visits Gas City I-69 Speedway Friday, Lawrenceburg Speedway Saturday and Kokomo Speedway Sunday.

Rain and fog conspired to interrupt USAC’s “Coca-Cola Spring Classic” events at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio Friday and Saturday. Heat races were conducted before fog rolled in to halt Friday’s competition. Persistent rain and wet grounds forced cancellation of Saturday’s program at the half-mile dirt oval. USAC and track officials are discussing possible rescheduling.

The six races held at this week’s three tracks in 2010 were won by six different drivers. Tracy Hines and Jon Stanbrough were the 2010 Gas City winners, while Jerry Coons Jr. and Dave Darland won in 2010 at Lawrenceburg. Bryan Clauson and Levi Jones won last year’s Kokomo Sprints.
