WESTERN, UTAH & EASTERN FOCUSES CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND

KOSTECKI SWEEPS IRWINDALE; DRAKE, CUSTER TOP CONCORD

 


USAC’s Western, Utah and Eastern Ford Focus series see action this weekend. The Western/Utah Focuses compete at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah Saturday night in concert with the Rocky Mountain Sprint cars. Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. hosts the Eastern Ford Focuses Monday night.


 


Nick Drake and Cole Custer won USAC feature events Wednesday night at Concord (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Drake, of Mooresville, N.C., led all 75 laps of the Eastern Ford Focus race to beat Chris Lamb, Austin Prock, Nic Davidson and Jarett Andretti. In the 35-lap Focus Young Guns feature, Custer, of Kannapolis, N.C., passed Jared Irvan on lap 14 and led the rest of the way to beat Irvan and Trey Hutchens.


 


Brodie Kostecki of Roseville, Calif. won both the USAC Western Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns features Saturday night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif. He passed Brandon White on lap 15 of the Ford Focus race and led the final 11 laps to win the 25-lapper over Jessica Clark, fast qualifier Paul Graham, White and Jarid Blondel, who led the opening lap. Kostecki then proceeded to lead all 20 laps to win the Focus Young Guns feature over fast qualifier Trevor Hunt, Christine Breckenridge and Ricky Bowers.


 


Kostecki leads the Western standings into this Saturday’s race at Salt Lake City, while Jim Waters is atop the latest Utah standings. Drake is the Eastern leader entering the race at Altamahaw.
