WATERS SEEKS 13TH UTAH USAC WIN SATURDAY

OLEEN PACES ALL 25 TO WIN AT MADERA, HEADS FOR MADERA SATURDAY

Jim Waters of Salt Lake City, Utah hopes to tie Dave Fitzgerald for second in all-time USAC feature wins in the state of Utah this Saturday when the USAC Auto Trader Ford Focuses compete at Rocky Mountain Raceways.

Waters has a dozen career wins in the Beehive State, one behind Fitzgerald, while all-time Utah leader Jimmy Wysong has 16.

Waters actually won a Ford Focus feature at RMR last year, but he’ll have to contend with defending series champion Kipp Posey, who won there three times last year.

Jeff Oleen of Bethesda, Md. led all 25 laps to win Saturday night’s USAC California Pavement Ford Focus feature at Madera Speedway. The race was part of the track’s “Fred Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic.” Oleen and his Oleen Pinnacle/Best Buddies Maryland Kent were trailed at the finish by Nick Romano, series point leader and fast qualifier Eric Gunderson, Tim Skoglund and Zach Stout.

Oleen is fourth in the new California pavement standings, 34 behind point leader Gunderson going in to this Saturday’s race at the Stock (Calif.) 99 Speedway, part of the track’s USAC “tripleheader” which also features the Western Sprint Cars and Western Midgets.
