FOCUSES HEAD FOR NEVADA, WASHINGTON & INDIANA

RAIN HALTS ACE EVENTS; DAVISON, CUSTER #1 AT SANTA MARIA

 


USAC’s 2011 Ford Focus campaign accelerates this weekend, with four races in three states on tap. The Midwest series opens with races at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway Friday and Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway Saturday, where the Midwest Focus Young Guns will also make their 2011 debut. The Western/Utah series are involved at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Saturday and the brand-new Washington series opens Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma. The Western Focus Young Guns will also be part of the program at Las Vegas.


 


Jet Davison of Running Springs, Calif. and Cole Custer of Kannapolis, N.C. scored USAC Ford Focus victories at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway Saturday night. Davison got by Randi Pankratz on the 25th and final lap to win the Western Ford Focus feature, while Custer led the last three laps for the win in the Focus Young Guns 20-lapper. Trailing Davison at the checkered flag were Randi Pankratz, Jarid Blondel, Daniel Williams and Wally Pankratz. In the Focus Young Guns, Parker Colston took second ahead of Trevor Hunt and Christine Breckenridge.


 


Friday’s USAC Eastern Ford Focus series opener at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. was interrupted by rain prior to the feature. Jarett Andretti and Chris Lamb won the preliminary heat races. The series continues April 30 at Dillon (SC) Motor Speedway.
