Jeremy Frankoski of Huntersville, N.C. leads the Carolina USAC Ford Focus series to Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway this Saturday night, nursing a tenuous point lead over Scott Hunter and Eric Coomes.

Frankoski led the final 25 laps to win Saturday night’s 35-lap USAC Carolina Ford Focus race at the Dillon (S.C.) Motor Speedway in the Calico Coatings/All American Driver Challenge Beast. He passed Hunter on lap 11 and never looked back as he beat Hunter, Coomes, Justin Hommel and Rick Fedrizzi to the checkered flag. Frankoski was also the fastest qualifier.

Hunter is just 25 back on the leader in the latest standings, while Coomes is only 32 out of the lead, with 66 available at Hickory.

Nick Carlson of Norwalk, Calif. caught Tim Skoglund on the white-flag lap and ended up winning Saturday night’s 40-lap USAC California Pavement Ford Focus feature at the Stockton 99 Speedway. Driving a Western Speed entry, Carlson beat Skoglund, series point leader and fast qualifier Nic Romano, Zach Stout and Jessica Clark to the checkered flag. Skoglund had led the first 38 laps. The series resumes October 10 at Stockton.

Dennis Simunovich of Hollister, Calif. led all 20 laps to win Saturday night’s USAC Junior Ford Focus race at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. He was trailed at the checkered flag by Casey Martinez, series leader Kyle Edwards, Andrew Murray and Nick Drake. The series resumes October 27 at Ventura.
