TYLER WINS BETTENHAUSEN 100

Brian Tyler of Parma, Mich. led wire-to-wire to win Saturday afternoon's"Tony Bettenhausen 100" at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. The victory in the 100-mile USAC K & N Silver Crown race presented by Optima Batteries was worth $10,500. Tyler started second next to pole winner Shane Hollingsworth but took the lead on lap one and never looked back in his Toyota/Fatheadz Sunglasses Beast/Toyota.

Dave Darland finished second ahead of Hollingsworth, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Bud Kaeding.

Series point leader Jerry Coons Jr. finished sixth and takes a 41-point lead over Darland into the August 31"Ted Horn 100" at the DuQUoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds.

Johnny Parsons escaped injury when he hit the wall in turn three on lap 24.
