ROSSBURG, OH – SEPTEMBER 17, 2013… The 2013 Dirt Triple Crown Finale for the USAC Honda .25 Midget Series takes place this weekend during the USAC 4 Crown at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway. Together with the World of Outlaws and USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series, Amsoil Sprint Car Series and the Honda National Midget Series, it makes for one of the best racing weekends of the year!
After 3 events so far, Steven Snyder, Jr, leads the Junior Honda Class, Briggs Danner is atop both the Senior Honda and Briggs Light World Formula Classes, while Brittany Erlsten leads Heavy Honda, and Andrew Layser is first in Light 160. Hanna Flood leads the points in Heavy 160, Adrienna Delponti – Briggs Junior Animal, Kenny Miller – Briggs Senior Animal, Levi Crowl – Briggs Heavy World Formula, and Calvin Carroll is on top in Mod.
This is the first time Hanna Flood will run on the Dirt Surface at ‘Little E. “I can’t wait to get there,” she said. “I love traveling, seeing my friends and meeting new people. Whatever happens this weekend, happens. I’m looking forward to some good clean racing and experiencing Eldora.”
Brittany Erlsten has visited Eldora in the past. She currently leads the Heavy Honda Class points. “I loved the USAC Dirt Triple Crown Series this year,” said Erlsten. I really liked that a bunch of kids from home are racing the Tour.“ Brittany’s strategy for her quest for the championship this weekend is to “stay smart, use my head, try to stay out of wrecks and hopefully that will put me to the front of the field.”
The points battles are tough for the dirt series where a driver must race in 3 of the 4 events to be crowned champion. Previous events for 2013 were held at West End Speedway in Gilbert, Pa, Memorial Day weekend, Montgomery County Speedway in Phoenixville, PA, July 19 – 21 and Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland August 9 – 11.
The schedule for this weekend is a bit different than other events this season. Trailer Parking begins Friday morning at 9 am. Reserved Parking Spots will be sold for $50. Free Parking is also available. Sign-Ins open at 10:30 am and will close at 5 pm.
FREE tickets are available for the .25 Midget PRE-Registered drivers on both Friday and Saturday nights at the big track. Handlers will receive a $10 discount.
Saturday and Sunday, Mandatory Driver / Handler Meetings will be held at 8:45 am. Heat Races and Lower Mains will run on Saturday with A Mains on Sunday. First, Second and Third place finishers will be awarded USAC gold, silver and bronze medals at Victory Lane Ceremonies following features on Sunday. All 2013 Dirt Triple Crown Series Champions should remain at the track after the last event for Media Opportunities.
The top 5 in each class, will be honored at the .25 Midget “Showcase of Champions.”
