SET THIS WEEK AT CALIFORNIA’S ORANGE SHOW

 


The “Ernie Bose World Record Race” is set for Friday through Sunday at the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. and track and world records will again be the subject of conversation as USAC Mopar .25 Midget drivers try to join that elusive four-second club! The event is under the auspices of the United States Auto Club and the Orange Show Quarter Midget Racing Association.


 


The racing program opens with preferred parking on Thursday and practice gets under way Friday. Qualifying and Lower Mains are set for Saturday and the A Mains are Sunday followed by post-race technical inspection and the presentation of awards.


 


This year’s race is the sixth and final leg of the “Desert Shoot Out Series” and awards for top drivers in that series will also be presented at the conclusion of Sunday’s races.


 


Awards for participating drivers will include driver participation awards and goody bags, fast-time plaques and clocks, top-four A-Main trophies and Ernie Bose World Record Red Jackets for track record-breakers.


 


Entertainment on Saturday night following the preliminaries will consist of a raffle and a free dinner. Items included in the raffle are a Simpson helmet with NASCAR Driver autographs, Hoosier Tires and more.


 


Last year, Skyler Dale and Dylan Attridge posted four-second bracket laps, with Attridge posting a 4.980 and Dale a 4.944.


 


The race annually honors the memory of one of the sport’s greatest engine builders.


 


“This event is very unique in its format and the importance of qualifying” says USAC’s James Spink. “There is no other event in the country like it and turning a sub-five-second lap around Orange Show is quite an accomplishment.”
