Two-time USAC National Midget Champion (1965-66) Mike McGreevy passed away in Colorado yesterday (Jan. 5) at the age of 92. Beginning with a win at Islip, N.Y. in 1963 and ending with a victory at Jefferson City, Mo. in 1969, he racked up 30 USAC National Midget wins, most notably the 1967 "Night Before the 500" at Kokomo, Ind. and the 1968 "Hut Hundred" at Terre Haute, Ind. He scored four wins at Kearney Bowl in Fresno, Calif. and won USAC races in nine states. Inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 1987, Mike also earned BCRA Midget titles in 1958, 1960 and 1962 and the 1965 BCRA indoor title. He made three appearances at the Indianapolis 500, in 1962, 1965 and 1966, but failed to qualify for the race. He did compete in two USAC National Championship races, at Springfield, Ill. in 1965 and Phoenix, Ariz. in 1966. USAC extends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
