DRIVERS FROM 13 STATES "QUALIFIED" FOR BATTLE AT THE BRICKYARD

NEXT “QUALIFIER” IS MAY 8-9 AT CALIFORNIA’S ORANGE SHOW

A total of 89 USAC Mopar .25 Midget drivers have qualified to compete in the July 6-10 “Battle at the Brickyard” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Drivers who competed in the recent Eastern District Championship at Metro Atlanta in Georgia are automatically eligible, as are those who will compete in the Western District Championship event May 8-9 at the Orange Show in San Bernardino, Calif. and the subsequent Midwest District Championship at the Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway June 5-6.

The 89 qualified drivers represent 13 different states. Included are from 22 from North Carolina, 15 from Florida, 14 from Ohio, 13 from Georgia, 7 from Indiana, 3 each from New Jersey and Michigan, 2 each from New York and South Carolina and 1 each from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia.

Following USAC’s inaugural Battle at the Brickyard in 2009, USAC Developmental Racing Series Director James Spink anticipates a record field of entries for the 2010 event. “We have started off the 2010 campaign strong,” says USAC Developmental Racing Series Director James Spink. “Over 160 entries for the Georgia Eastern District qualifier has created a buzz for the 2nd Annual Battle at the Brickyard and running one of the District events ensures the driver a spot at this prestigious event.”
