USAC AMSOIL SPRINT CAR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

Formats may be altered from base formats listed here at the discretion of the chief steward.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifying is two (2) laps to be run consecutively with the fastest lap counting as the official qualifying time.

In the event of over 36 cars in competition with a standard format, a split-qualifying format would be in effect. Cars in group one qualify into the first two heats, with cars in group two filling into the last two heats. From there, a standard format is followed with the overall qualifying seeds being meshed together, with the group including fast time taking all odd-numbered positions.

HEAT RACES:

If there are 30 cars or less, three heat race events will be conducted.  If there are 31 or more cars in attendance, four heat races will be conducted.

(If more than 36 cars)

10 laps. Cars in flight one qualify into the first two heat races, while cars in flight two fill the starting positions of the last two heat races.  Top-6 fastest qualifying cars in each flight are inverted in each heat race. The fastest car in each heat starts 6th, the second fastest car starts 5th and so on.  For the 4th row on back, cars will line up straight up, based on their qualifying times.

Cars finishing in positions 1-4 will transfer to the feature event if four heats are held. Cars finishing 1-5 will transfer if three heats are held.

Cars finishing in positions 5th on back will start in the semi-feature event if 4 heats are held. Cars finishing 6th on back will start in the semi-feature event if 3 heats are held.

(If less than 36 cars)

8 laps. Cars finishing in positions 1-4 will transfer to the feature event if four heats are held. Cars finishing 1-5 will transfer if three heats are held.
