EVERY POINT COUNTS: BACON & SEAVEY TAKE ISW TITLE BATTLE TO LINCOLN PARK

Putnamville, Indiana (July 29, 2021)………Every point matters.  Every position matters.  In qualifying.  In heat races.  In the semi.  In the feature.  Every single point makes a difference in the end.

Only four points separate point leader Brady Bacon (305) and second-running Logan Seavey (301) in the race for the NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week By AMSOIL championship heading into round five of seven for the series on Thursday night, July 29, at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind.

Both drivers have taken slightly different routes in their pursuit of the ISW crown.  Bacon (Broken Arrow, Okla.) has yet to win a feature throughout the week while Seavey (Sutter, Calif.) has won three consecutive feature events at Lawrenceburg, Gas City and Terre Haute.

Throughout the first four ISW events, in terms of qualifying points, it’s a push for Bacon and Seavey who’ve both earned 15 points apiece.  In heat races, Bacon has the upper hand, gaining 24 total points whereas Seavey has 19 in the heats, plus four by virtue of a semi-feature win.

In feature points, Bacon holds a very slight advantage with 256 points to Seavey’s 253.  Despite Seavey’s three feature wins providing him 70 points each, it’s the first ISW feature at Kokomo last Saturday that remains the difference with Seavey earning just 43 tallies for placing 10th in the A-Main that night.  Meanwhile, Bacon has placed 4th, 2nd, 4th & 2nd in his four feature runs throughout ISW, never earning less than 61 feature points each night.

The top-two of Bacon and Seavey have gained a little bit of separation between themselves and the rest of the pack.  Kokomo ISW winner Justin Grant (Ione, Calif.) is third, 27 points out of the lead.  Kevin Thomas Jr. (Cullman, Ala.) runs fourth, 33 behind.  Tanner Thorson (Minden, Nev.) holds the fifth spot, 36 points behind the leader.

But, as always, one “off night” and a subpar finish can make the ultimate difference.  Every single time spent on track is of importance.  It takes total focus, concentration and making your own luck along the way to be up front in the standings at the conclusion of the week.  It’s especially the case in a tight points race, which you are witnessing right now.  Strap in and enjoy the ride, folks.

Thursday’s NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week by AMSOIL features the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship competing for a $6,000 top prize.  Super Stocks are also on the event card.

Pits open at 4:30pm EDT with grandstands opening at 4:30pm, drivers meeting at 6pm and hot laps at 6:30pm followed by qualifying & racing.

General admission grandstand tickets are $30. Kids 10 and under are free. Pit passes are $30 for members, $35 for non-members & free for kids 10 and under.
