3-IN-A-ROW FOR MALCOLM WITH USAC CRA AT PERRIS
Perris, California (July 13, 2024)………Tommy Malcolm raced to his third consecutive Avanti Windows & Doors USAC CRA Sprint Car feature victory on Saturday night at southern California’s Perris Auto Speedway 1/2-mle dirt oval.
Malcolm (Corona, Calif.) led all 30 laps from the pole position to score his latest triumph. In fact, Malcolm has gone wire-to-wire to lead all 80 laps that have been contested by the series in the three most recent events at Perris, Santa Maria and Perris once again.
Overall, it’s Malcolm’s sixth USAC CRA main event victory, meaning he’s doubled his career win total in just the last three events. In the process, Malcolm extended his USAC CRA championship point lead from two to eight over R.J. Johnson (Laveen, Ariz.) who turned the quickest lap in Woodland Auto Display Qualifying.
Behind Malcolm at the checkered flag were runner-up A.J. Bender (San Diego, Calif.), Austin Williams (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Johnson while Charles Davis Jr. (Buckeye, Ariz.) rounded out the top-five.
Four different drivers were involved in upside down accidents during the course of the evening’s program Gary Marshall Jr. flipped on lap two of the first heat. Austin Grabowski flipped on the opening lap of the feature. Logan Williams and Jeff Dyer flipped on lap 24 of the feature. Dyer was transported to a local hospital where he will be going into surgery for a broken humerus bone. Dyer also suffered a concussion in the accident.
