I was wondering if anyone had to drill holes in a new lower body panel? If so what kind of circular saw or drill did you use to make the holes?

We drilled small holes (1/4") for the transponder bags on the left side of our car and just used 1/4" drill bit, but in the back we had to make a hole for the flywheel to be painted and used a uni bit that we picked up at Home Depot.

If you need to drill the inspection hole for access to the flywheel nut go to the hardware store and get a 2" diameter hole saw. Make sure that the arbor that goes into the drillchuck is 3/8 dia or less. Most hand drills have 3/8 capacity chucks.

I have a new fiberglass left side panel that needs all the holes in it including the nerf bar holes & radius rod holes, I don't want to tare up the panel by using the wrong saw or drill.

Spartan Tool @ Alum Creek & Integrity Dr will have anything you need. Step bits leave rough edges on fiber. Holes saws leave a smooth edge.

Snap On tools make a sheet metal hole cutter kit. Works extremely well on alum and fiberglass but only goes up to 3/4". It is a Blue Point kit pt# GA219B. For larger holes in alum I use panel punches, you can pick them up at a electrical supply house.

Be sure you put masking tape over the fiberglass before you drill. This will keep the fiberglass from chipping and flying apart at the hole.
