How Fast?

Ok, having been at this for only a few months, i'm realizing the first question you get from anyone when you try to explain what QM is all about is "how fast do they go"? Does everyone here get the same question?
Problem is, I don't have a clue! I guess you have to qualify that and say if you had the various classes on straightaways, then how fast would go? Otherwise you'd have to estimate on a "typical" track.
Assuming a driver driving a good line, how fast DO they go? Rookie through World Formula.....
Dave.

You can go here and caculate the MPH at your track, we run Jr honda and are running about 31 mph average at our track.

I never answer people who ask how fast we go. The number doesn't do the cars justice because while 25-35 in a car might seem slow, when you're an inch off the ground and cutting tight turns it's exhausting and scary.

We get that question a lot too. Ballpark 30-45, give or take depending on the division, is what I usually say.

Tampa track gets into the 35-40 in Junior Honda and 40s in Junior Animal because of the long straightaways.
At New Smyrna Junior Honda, we're getting around 26-27 mph. This is a "normal" size QM track.

It's kind of a complicated formula, but you can calculate you top speed if you know the gearing, RR circumference and RPM. I have a spreadsheet that calculates it for me. On our little dirt bullring, the 120s top out around 32 MPH.
On second glance, it's not too bad....looks like this:
TIRE * RPM
-------------
1056 * GEAR

If you were to put it to scale, it is equal to a full size car doing 120 mph on a quarter mile track.
