Wheels Kart vs. Quarter

Can someone explain the difference between kart wheels and quarter midget wheels besides the American bolt pattern and the "Metric"?

The wheels I  buy come from a karter parts dealer and are mainly sold to karters, they are available in metric or standard.  They use slightly different offsets but nothing that I cant workout with spacing, especially for the price.
