Title: Seal Paint Removal
Post by: sfreitas20 on November 30, 2009, 10:42:21 PM
Ok, so it is the off season I want to get that nasty looking seal paint off the 1687 locations they put it.  What is the best trick for that?

Brake Cleaner seems to work pretty good....Give it a try.

I never take it off. I don't want there to be any question about where the engine gets painted.

The brake cleaner worked on some, but didn't even touch some of the others.  I have found that dipping a q-tip in some Berrymans Chem Dip and setting that on the seal paint will soften it up after a few minutes.  Then most of it comes off pretty easy.  I just don't want get that stuff all over everything either.

There is one layer of red paint that just won't come off without picking at it, must have been some heavy duty seal paint.

I just prefer to start off next season with everything nice and clean.  Plus, I really hope the officials know where to put the seal paint without relying on the person that sealed it at the last event being right. :)

Don't forget, the guy painting the engine is not responsible for making sure it's done right. You, the handler, are. Check it every time.

You forgot to mention the other reason for wanting the seal paint off.  LOL.  My OCD gets the best of me when the motors look like a christmas tree.
