Kokomo, Indiana (August 13, 2020)………Sprint Car Smackdown IX arrives at Indiana’s Kokomo Speedway for its ninth annual edition on August 27-28-29.

The event will feature three consecutive nights of full racing programs for the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship, starting Thursday, Aug. 27 and Friday, Aug. 28, then concluding with the Saturday, Aug. 29 finale in which the feature winner takes home a $10,000 grand prize.  Saturday night’s event will include a separate, complete program for the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series as well.

One change to the schedule this year is that Wednesday’s #GYATK Night, non-points special event will not be held this year due to regulations regarding COVID-19.

Bryan Clauson captured the inaugural Smackdown finale in 2012 while Dave Darland took three-straight between 2013-14-15.  Kevin Thomas Jr. won it in 2016 as Tyler Courtney took the victory the following year in 2017, then became a two-time winner in 2019.  Current USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car point leader Justin Grant defeated the Smackdown field in 2018.

Advance three-day reserved tickets for Smackdown are $80 and can be purchased by calling (815) 468-8690 up until Monday, August 24, at 5pm ET.  Phone orders will be closed after that time.  The three-day pass can still be purchased at the track when the ticket windows open on Thursday, August 27, for $85.
