AUTO VALUE SPRINTS INVADE SALEM BANKS SATURDAY

Saturday’s “Eddie Gilstrap Motors Sprint Car Legends Classic” at the Salem (Ind,) Speedway is the next stop in the 2015 USAC Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Sprint Car series and features USAC’s return to the historic half-mile paved oval after a hiatus of five years.

Shane Hmiel won the last USAC outing at Salem, which has hosted a total of 136 races since 1956.

Bobby Santos holds a one-point lead over Kyle Edwards in the 2015 standings following thee April 10 series opener at Pensacola, Fla.

Saturday’s race will mark the first appearance of the winged Sprint cars under USAC sanction at Salem.
