SOUTHWEST SPRINTS HEAD FOR QUEEN CREEK

 

SOUTHWEST SPRINTS HEAD FOR QUEEN CREEK;

PRESCOTT VALLEY YIELDS #1 FOR DESKINS

Josh Pelkey of Peoria, Ariz. is the new leader in USAC’s Southwest Sprint Car Series, which continues this Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. He has a six-point lead over Shon Deskins, who posted his initial USAC feature victory in last Saturday’s 30-lapper at Prescott Valley Raceway in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Deskins, of Phoenix, Ariz.. led all 30-laps at Prescott Valley, which was hosting its initial USAC race. Deskins piloted his Performance Plus/Ellis Race Cars entry to beat Charles Davis Jr., Pelkey, Mike Colegrove and Chris Bonneau.

Deskins was third at Queen Creek in April, while Pelkey was second. That race was won by R.J. Johnson, who is now fourth in the series standings.
