7-WAY POINT BATTLE SPICES HAUBSTADT SATURDAY;

CAMERON, EAGLE SPRINTS “FROZEN OUT”

Saturday’s “Spring Showdown” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. showcases stars of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series and the MSCS Sprints.

The seven-way battle for the 2013 USAC point lead continues after last weekend’s races at Cameron, Mo. and Eagle, Neb. were cancelled due to frigid temperatures and snow flurries.

Chase Stockon and Hunter Schuerenberg are virtually tied for the lead, while drivers Bryan Clauson, Brady Bacon, Tracy Hines, Dave Darland and Kevin Thomas Jr. are all within a 36-point span with 74 points available at Haubstadt.

Schuerenberg is the only one of the seven who won at Tri-State last year, while Clauson and Thomas each had a third in the three USAC 2012 appearances. Darland had a fourth and Stockon a pair of fifths. Hines struggled at Tri-State last year, his best finish in three starts a 17th. Bacon did not compete at Haubstadt last year.
