WESTERN SPRINTS HEADLINE MADERA'S 3rd PUMPKIN SMASH HALLOWEEN BASH

WESTERN SPRINT CARS HEADLINE MADERA’S 3rd PUMPKIN SMASH HALLOWEEN BASH & BLOW UP SATURDAY

The brothers Swanson will try to extend the family record at Madera Speedway this Saturday when the track hosts its third annual “Pumpkin Smash Halloween Bash & Blow-Up.” The event features both the USAC Western Sprint Cars and the California Pavement Ford Focus Midgets.

Tanner and Kody have won the last seven Sprint features at Madera and nine of the last 10! Tanner has won five, including the last two. Only Tony Hunt and JoJo Helberg have broken their string of wins this season at the third-mile paved oval.

Saturday’s race is the penultimate event of the 2009 Western Sprint season, which has been dominated by Tanner. Since finishing fourth in the season opener at Madera, Tanner has finished first or second in every race! That’s five wins and five seconds and he’s also been the fastest qualifier the last three series races.

Behind the point leader three drivers are waging a war for the runner-up position in the standings. Helberg lead Brian McClish by only three points, while Hunt is fourth, only five behind Helberg. Kody Swanson is currently fifth in the points, 67 behind Helberg.
