WESTERN SPRINTS HEAD FOR ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

WESTERN SPRINTS HEAD FOR ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

Tanner Swanson, Tony Hunt and Shane Hmiel won USAC Western Sprint races at All American Speedway in 2008. The series returns to the quarter-mile pavement this Saturday.

Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., has enjoyed a meteoric USAC career so far. After winning the 2007 Carolina Ford Focus title, he won in his first National Sprint Car start at Anderson, Ind. last year. He won in his initial USAC Western Midget start April 4 at Madera, Calif. and last year won his second Western Sprint car race at Tracy, Calif!

Hunt is a three-time series champion, while Hmiel has been impressive in his USAC open-wheel appearances.

Kody Swanson, Tanner’s brother, is the current series point leader, by six over JoJo Helberg, who won the series opener at Madera April 4. Hmiel ranks fifth, Tanner sixth and Hunt eighth in the current points.
