WESTERN SPRINTS AT ALTAMONT SATURDAY; SWANSON CONTINUES WINNING WAYS AT MAGIC VALLEY

USAC Western Sprint Car point leader Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. posted his third victory of the 2008 series Saturday night at Twin Falls, Idaho and extended his series point lead to 61 points over Nick Rescino Jr., who finished third at Twin Falls.

Swanson leads the series to this Saturday's USAC "tripleheader" at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif. He scored a 100-lap feature victory Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway, beating Eric Humphries to the checkered flag in the Western/Rocky Mountain Sprint car point race. Swanson piloted the TK Motorsports Keith Williams Eagle/Chevy, leading the final 75 laps after passing Nick Rescino Jr. on lap 26. Humphries led the first lap and Rescino led the next 24 before yielding to Swanson.

Saturday's Altamont events also include the USAC Western Midgets and California Pavement Ford Focuses.

Ryan Burdette finished eighth a Twin Falls and emerged with an 11-point lead over JoJo Helberg in the new Young Automotive Rocky Mountain Sprint Car series standings.

The Rocky Mountain Sprint Car campaign continues August 30 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah.
