KODY SWANSON WINS “TURKEY NIGHT” SPRINT; HUNT WESTERN CHAMP

 


Irwindale, CA……..Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. won Thursday night’s 40-lap AMSOIL USAC Western Sprint Car feature at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale but Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. emerged as the series champion for the fourth time after finishing second. Hunt’s title is his sixth in USAC competition. Swanson caught Indianapolis 500 veteran Davey Hamilton on lap six and led the rest of the way in his Keith Williams Eagle/Toyota. Trailing Hunt in third was Bobby East, while JoJo Helberg and Mike Murgoitio rounded out the “top-five” at the checkered flag. Tanner Swanson was the fastest qualifier with a new track record.
