JESSE HOCKETT, 26

The United States Auto Club is deeply saddened at the news of the untimely death of 26-year-old Jesse Hockett who died Wednesday as a result of an electrical accident at his Warsaw, Missouri shop. Hockett had competed in 79 USAC Sprint car races since 2004 and won last season's USAC "Ultimate Challenge" at Oskaloosa, Iowa and the opening 2009 Eastern Storm race at Grandview Speedway in Pennsylvania. USAC extends its sincerest sympathies to his wife Tina Marie and the entire Hockett family as well as his many friends and associates. At the time of his untimely death, Jesse was preparing to compete in tonight's (May 27) Tony Hulman Classic at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track. He will be missed by all who had the fortune to meet him and his legacy will endure. May he rest in peace. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be released when they are finalized.
