AXSOM TO MAKE USAC SPRINT DEBUT WITH CMR SUNDAY AT PARAGON

Indianapolis, Indiana (August 20, 2021)………Emerson Axsom will make his USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship debut this Sunday, August 22, at Indiana’s Paragon Speedway aboard the Clauson Marshall Racing/Driven2SaveLives No. 39BC.
Additionally, Axsom will also pilot the car throughout Sprint Car Smackdown X on August 26-27-28 at Indiana’s Kokomo Speedway.
The Franklin, Ind. driver has been a standout in his first full season on the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship trail with two feature victories and currently stands second in series points.
Axsom’s only previous sprint car racing experience has occurred on the pavement, both at Indiana’s Anderson Speedway, finishing 6th on July 10 and 4th on July 31. But the upcoming week will be totally new to Axsom as he pairs with the 2018 USAC National Sprint Car winning team.
However, every challenge thrust upon Axsom thus far has seen the 16-year-old racer quickly adapt to each and every challenge thrown his way.
“I’m super excited to have an opportunity in a car with so much history for my sprint car debut,” Axsom stated. “I am honored to be able to spread awareness about organ donation and Indiana Donor Network’s Driven2SaveLives program through racing and to keep the legacy of Bryan Clauson and the No. 39BC car going. I’m super thankful for Taylor McLean, Tim Clauson, Diana Clauson, Richard Marshall, Jennifer Marshall and everyone at Clauson Marshall Racing for the opportunity, and I cannot wait for the future with such a great team.”
Cole Bodine had driven the CMR No. 39BC sprinter on 10 occasions this year, finishing a best of 8th at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway in April of this year.
“First and foremost, I want to thank Cole Bodine for the time and effort he has given to CMR, our family and Driven2SaveLives over the last two years. He is a racer who came to me with a dream and was willing to work for the opportunity he earned. We wish him nothing but success as he continues his racing career.
My passion for the sport is rooted in working with the next generation of drivers and I feel really fortunate to be able to give Emerson his first taste of driving a sprint car,” Clauson continued. “What he, his family and team have done at the National Midget level has been impressive. We will run a flex schedule as he continues to chase the USAC National Midget Championship in the Petry Motorsports No. 15. I am looking forward to being a small part in what I am sure will be a big future for Emerson in the sport.”
On Sunday at Paragon, USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars and Bombers are on the event card. General admission tickets are $30 while ages 10 and under are free. The pits open at 3pm ET, stands at 4:30pm and hot laps at 6pm with qualifying and racing immediately following.
