SILVER CROWN"DOUBLES" AT TERRE HAUTE

DIRT, PAVEMENT BACK-TO-BACK AS SILVER CROWN “DOUBLES” AT TERRE HAUTE, ORP

Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. and Levi Jones of Avon, Ind. hope to keep Tony Stewart Racing atop the K & N USAC Silver Crown point standings following this week’s ambitious Silver Crown slate in Indiana. Stewart is attempting to become the first car owner to “sweep” all three USAC National championships in the same season. He currently leads all three.Hines is the leader in the Silver Crown driver standings, while Jones sits third, 18 back going into this week’s races at Terre Haute and Indianapolis. Jerry Coons Jr. is between them, 13 back of the leader. The First Financial Bank “Sumar Classic 100” unfolds Wednesday night at the Terre Haute Action Track and the “J.D. Byrider 100” presented by TourHendricksCounty.com occurs Thursday night at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The 100- lappers mark only the third time that back-to-back dirt/pavement Silver Crown races have been held on successive days.Bobby East is the defending champion at ORP and Bud Kaeding will defend his 2006 Terre Haute victory after last year’s “Sumar Classic 100” fell victim to rain.Josh Wise set the existing 1-lap track qualifying mark at Terre Haute in 2005 at 20.139 seconds, while Jason Leffler holds the 1-lap ORP qualifying record of 20.298 second set in 2000.
