BELLEVILLE SILVER CROWN DEBUT FRIDAY;

TANNER, KODY SWANSON 1-2 IN “J.D. BYRIDER 100”

Kody Swanson heads for the Belleville (Kans.) High Banks this Friday as the new point leader in the Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Championship Series. The “Hustle on the High Banks” race marks the debut of the series at the famed half-mile dirt oval. It splits the “Belleville Midget Nationals” which hosts the Honda USAC National Midgets on Thursday and Saturday.

Swanson completed the 1-2 sweep of Saturday night’s “J.D. Bryrider 100” at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for the brothers Swanson. His runner-up finish behind Tanner Swanson produced the second 1-2 brother sweep in history, duplicating their 1-2 finish at Marne, Mich. in 2010.

Tanner’s 2013 series debut found him passing Kody on lap 15 and leading the rest of the way to take the 100-lapper, driving the Bowman-Canine Racing Banjo Corporation Beast/Kistler. David Byrne took third ahead of Chris Windom and Tracy Hines.

Kody Swanson won the pole for the 100-lapper at a speed of 117.338 mph and led the first 14 laps of the race.

Kody’s point lead over Bobby East stands at 11 points, while Jerry Coons Jr., who broke an axle during Saturday’s race, ranks third, 13 behind the leader.
