From: Winchester Speedway

Winchester, Indiana (July 16, 2021)………Indiana’s Winchester Speedway now turns its attention to the rescheduled Rich Vogler Classic Presented by The Pallet Builder featuring the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series on Thursday, July 22.

The race was originally scheduled to open up the Winchester Speedway and USAC Silver Crown seasons on Sunday, May 9, but rain and frigid temperatures forced the event to be postponed to July 22.  It will now be contested the night before the start of NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week, just an hour up the road at Gas City I-69 Speedway.

The Rich Vogler Classic is a co-promotion between Winchester Speedway and Elite Racing Promotions, founded in 2019 by Brady and Xia Xianna Bacon.  The 100-lap midweek show will be contested under the lights, giving it a feel of the Thursday Night Thunder era of USAC.

Three races have been contested so far in 2021 by the USAC Silver Crown.  Five-time series champion Kody Swanson took the season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway during the Carb Night Classic on May 30.  The two most recent races have been on the dirt, with Shane Cockrum winning at Williams Grove Speedway on June 18 and Tyler Courtney scoring the win at Eldora Speedway on June 26.

Shane Cottle holds an early points lead in the Silver Crown standings over Swanson and USAC Triple Crown champion Chris Windom.

The 2021 version of the Rich Vogler Classic will celebrate open wheel racing’s rich history at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile,” while paying homage to the legendary life and career of one of motorsport’s greatest talents, the late Rich Vogler.  The 100-lap main event will showcase the beauty and blazing speed of the renowned Silver Crown machines while testing the bravery and skill of some of the world’s best drivers upon the fabled high banks of Winchester.

The event will also mark USAC’s first trip to Winchester since 2011, when the Sprint Cars came to town for the Rich Vogler Classic.  Tracy Hines dominated that day and took the win in the feature event, which also served as the most recent USAC National Sprint Car race to be held on asphalt.

Fans who purchased advance tickets online will still be able to use those tickets on Thursday, July 22.  Fans wanting to purchase tickets for the Rich Vogler Classic at Winchester Speedway can do so by visiting www.winchesterspeedway.com/tickets.  For more information, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
