USAC CAR OWNER AND SPONSOR GRAY LAID TO REST

Greenfield, Indiana (January 15, 2019)………Brad Gray, whose Gray Auto cars were a fixture on the USAC National Midget trail over the last four seasons, was laid to rest earlier today following his passing on January 9.  He was 58 years old.

Gray, of Greenfield, Ind., was the long-time owner/operator of Gray Auto Sales.  Since 2015, his No. 11 midgets have competed in USAC National Midget racing, making 25 starts between 2015 and 2018 with drivers Dave Darland and C.J. Leary.

Darland made the bulk of those starts for Gray in 2016 and 2017, notching 22 feature appearances, earning a fourth-place finish at the Springfield (Ill.) Multi-Purpose Arena in 2017 as well as their best career finish of second at Bloomington Speedway during “Indiana Midget Week in 2016,” leading six laps in the process.

Fellow Greenfield resident Leary, meanwhile, made three starts for Gray, including the team’s first two in 2015 and the final appearance in March of 2018 at the “Shamrock Classic” indoors at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin.

Gray was also a supporter of a multitude of drivers and teams across the USAC landscape, including Leary, who took the Gray Auto sponsorship to victory lane in 2018 during “Indiana Sprint Week” at Bloomington and in USAC Silver Crown competition at the “4-Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.  Gray was also most notably associated with the Petry Motorsports USAC Midget team.

USAC extends its deepest condolences to the family of Brad Gray.  Memorial contributions in honor of Brad can be made to World Renewal designated for the Good Samaritan Orphanage, 206 S. 850 E, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.
